NHTSA's VIN data lists these trims for the 2026 Ioniq 9. A trim's engine and numbers are shown as its own only where EPA names versions after the trim and no other version could be it; "seen with" means a source shows that engine on the trim, not that it was the only one. Recalls and complaints cover the whole model year: whether a recall applies to a car depends on its VIN, on NHTSA's recall lookup.
Owners have filed 37 complaints with NHTSA about the 2026 Ioniq 9. These are unverified owner reports, counted by the part of the car they name; one complaint can name several parts. Counts aren't adjusted for how many were sold, so they don't show how reliable a car is.

NHTSA lists 3 recall campaigns for the 2026 Ioniq 9 over its history. Campaigns are matched by model and year, so each one may apply to a given car, and its repair may already be done: check a VIN on NHTSA's recall lookup for the open recalls on that exact car.
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2026 Ioniq 9 vehicles equipped with a Limited, Calligraphy, or Calligraphy Design trim package. The second-row power seats may fail to detect a person. As a result, the seats may continue to move after contacting a person during powered seat functions, such as automatic power fold-and-stow.
Risk: A person, especially a child, may become trapped by a rear powered seat, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Owners are advised to exercise caution when operating the second-row power seat functions until the repair is performed. Children are advised not to be in the rear seats or near the rear seating area during power-folding operation. The seat software will be inspected and updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 1, 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 307. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 12, 2026.

Risk: A loss of vehicle control increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the rear suspension fasteners and perform a rear vehicle alignment, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 17, 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 303. Remedy: Dealers will inspect and tighten the bus bar retention bolts and replace the battery system assembly, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 3, 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 294.
