Problems owners report

Owners have filed 8 complaints with NHTSA about the 2026 C-HR. These are unverified owner reports, counted by the part of the car they name; one complaint can name several parts. Counts aren't adjusted for how many were sold, so they don't show how reliable a car is.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2026 C-HR battery electric vehicles. A software programming error may cause the electric drive system battery to become overcharged under certain driving conditions, which can shut down the electric drive system and result in a loss of drive power.

Risk: An unexpected loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will update the battery electric vehicle electronic control unit (BEV ECU) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 18, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 26TA17.
